Richard J. Aherne has had a long career in civil litigation representing individuals and businesses in workers' compensation matters, Social Security claims, family law cases, as well as, real estate, landlord/tenant and personal injury matters.
Rich's experience includes work for insurance defense firms litigating workers compensation and product liability cases; negotiating reinsurance treaties for an international consulting firm; employment in the operations directorate of the Central Intelligence Agency, and, as an assistant district attorney in Berks County.
Rich is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and Florida, also, U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the First and Third Circuit Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Born and raised on a farm in Berks County, he currently resides with his wife, a college professor at Chestnut Hill College, and their daughter in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. While in college, Rich rowed crew for St. Joe's and was a Dad Vail winner. After college, he won an Ambassadorial Scholarship from the Rotary Foundation for a year's study in a South American university and years later was secretary to the Rotary Club of Havertown. His continued interest in Latin America led to further work and travel in Mexico, Brazil and other countries. Rich speaks fluent Spanish with many clients and represents businesses and nonprofits in the Spanish speaking community.
