Baycol Users may be Entitled to Compensation

On Wednesday, August 8, 2001, the FDA announced that the prescription drug BAYCOL (cerivastatin) was being withdrawn from the U.S. market. The use of BAYCOL has been linked to severe muscle conditions that cause injury and death. These conditions are known as myositis and rhabdomyolysis.

Myositis is inflammation of the muscles. Rhabdomyolysis is a condition that causes muscle cells to release into the bloodstream. This condition can result in muscle weakness, kidney failure, organ damage, and-in some cases-death.

If you are taking BAYCOL, the FDA is recommending that you stop using this drug immediately and contact your doctor if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • muscle pain/weakness
  • fever
  • nausea and vomiting
  • dark urine

If you have taken BAYCOL, you may be injured and entitled to compensation. For a free consultation, please contact us for assistance at Stampone Law.
